The Final Countdown
11 months ago – Wed, May 31, 2023 at 01:09:57 PM

Ah, how time dries…I mean oh, how the ink flies…

Regardless, this should be our last update before starting to ship out these delectable polyhedrals to you awesome peeps. Even with another unfortunate tumble down the stairs that landed V in a boot cast for the better part of a month (the stairs must have a vendetta against her), all the polishing is 100% completed. The dice even received a spa treatment to remove the last of the excess polish before getting their final ink.

As of the drafting of this document, all LTE Cherry d20s, all 5 mousse flavors, blueberry, and its inferior cousin, strawberry, PLUS matcha and turtle cheesecakes are all inked and cleaned, ready to be packed.  And because we employ such a state-of-the-art organizational system, decked out with individualized hard-to-escape-from barriers to prevent mixing of desserts and even a non-self closing, hinged, overhead containment apparatus…  We put our shiz in boxes! (Organization makes brain do happy noises)

Complete (left & LTE bin), To Do (right)

Even color-coded them because Pan is dumb and consistently mixes up peanut butter and turtle at a passing glance. Luckily, he has not done that with actual peanut butter and turtles otherwise he wouldn’t be allowed back to the swamp.

We are diligently plonking our way through this final step so keep an eye on your inboxes for those tracking notifications! BackerKit pledges are being finalized and locked out within the next 48hrs so if you need to adjust your address, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! You'll also be getting an email reminder to check everything so that your dice-erts don't get lost on their way to you!

We can't wait to sweeten up your summer with these awesome dice!

Get hyped and stay sweet peeps!

The Dessert with Many Faces
12 months ago – Sun, Apr 30, 2023 at 03:38:20 PM

If you were asked how many dice faces were in a set of dice, would you be able to answer without counting?

When you deal in polyhedral shapes like us you start to see them in a different way. A standard 7-piece is actually 70 facets waiting to be sanded and polished. That’s also 70 different numbers to ink. It may not seem like much until you start looking at the containers full of LTE d20s. Now all of a sudden you have well over 2,000 faces to keep you busy.

Luckily, it's also the final step that requires a dedicated workspace and setup. Our system for inking can be started and stopped immediately without too much fuss unlike polishing- which does best when you have large blocks of time set aside to get into a groove.

Over the last month, you may have seen social media posts concerning which dessert we are currently shining up. The current tally is:

  • 10 dice-ert flavors fully polished and awaiting ink
  • all 105 LTE d20s are polished and awaiting ink
  • 5 designs are left in the polishing queue (which should be done within the next 10 days assuming nothing bad happens 🤞)

In other Kickstarter-related news, all the boxes that your dice will be heading home in have been designed in-house. These cute little boxes are all cut out and stacked up, ready and waiting to be filled with your delicious- but sadly inedible- dice.

We are so very close to the finish now peeps. Very close indeed.

P.S. If you can't contain your excitement for your new dice and need to curb those click-clack cravings now, our shop has all premade designs at LEAST 15% off and some as high as 30% off! We are doing an inventory clear-out to make way for new and exciting designs so take advantage of the savings while you can!

One dust down, another to go!
about 1 year ago – Fri, Mar 31, 2023 at 09:53:27 AM

We have broken the third wall!

By that, I mean polishing has officially entered the equation on our timeline. Only a couple of crazy repours left to do (I’m looking at you, melon medley) before the sanding dust can finally settle... Just in time for a brand new set of dust to fly.

Polishing includes yet ANOTHER another quality check since any blemish missed during the sanding phase will be highlighted once the polish has a chance to hit the sweets. During the polish stage, the dice-erts become truly inedible as the polish is not readily digestible. Both of us can join in the fun of this stage (sanding is primarily a Pan job). Hopefully, the extra pair of hands means we can speedily get through all these dang desserts and onto the best phase, inking.

I don’t want to make any promises but it seems likely that by the next update, we will be able to get some vivid pictures of piles of LTE cherries for you all since those are the first on the docket for inking.

Hope spring is treating you well and remember, stay sweet!

February, what February?
about 1 year ago – Thu, Mar 02, 2023 at 03:04:43 PM

Wow! Where did last month go? It seemed like February 1st was just last week! Let's get into your monthly update on your sweet clacks!

The sanding phase is the most time-intensive, but by far the most important, step after pouring all of your sweets. This is also where our second set of quality checks takes place. What are we looking for during these checks?

  • High Faces
  • Pour Color Distribution
  • Voids or Bubbles

If a dice-ert does not pass, it gets added to the "discount dessert" pile to be added to the shop at a later date.

These dice were poured to replace those that did not place the dreaded quality check. Luckily, this amount is not nearly as much as we had set time aside, so with more than half the sanding already complete, that bin will not meaningfully impact our timeline! (Even with V managing to bork up her sanding arm due to an unfortunate trip down the stairs. Gotta wonder if there's some bad luck between her arm and Kickstarter fulfillment...)

The other super excellent news is that the polishing phase has begun ahead of schedule. We cannot wait to start the inking because that is easily the most photogenic phase but we will have to wait for another update to "ooo" and "ahh" at the beautifully inked desserts.

Your delicious - but inedible- dice are nearing the stage where you can hold them in your hands and we are SOOOO excited to hear what you think of them!

Until the next end-of-the-month update,

Stay SWEET! ^-^
